"How to do" Spoka Box, step by step.

  1. Spoka circuit exposed, test on switch on/off current and status (on/off) sensing;
  2. the “E” made from an IKEA spice rack;
  3. the main box core. Seeeduino Mega + RTC + Graphic LCD + buttons and trimmer circuit + Spoka control circuit;
  4. Spoka mod: a second hole to connect with main box;
  5. Spoka on;
  6. main box semi-assembled;
  7. main box a step before ending;
  8. main box jacks image, one for speakers and one for Spoka;
  9. Spoka Box assembled! “E” painted, main box wrapped in cloth and 2 magnets embedded into the upper part of the “E” to keep the main box securely in place.

Finally!! The SMS received a great upgrade!!
Its name is now Spoka Box, from the funny animal (brought at IKEA) you can see into the photo.
"How to" into next posts.
The main functions are:
current time;
day, month, year;
alarm;
random sentence under clock;
Spoka switchs on 10 minutes before alarm time;
Spoka blinks during alarm;
Waka waka (by Shakira) plays during alarm;
Spoka switchs off 15 minutes after alarm time;
random sentence by menu option;
alarm simulation by menu option;
simple cartoon by menu option;
set time, date and alarm menus;
set lcd light by turning a trimmer;
Spoka is totally autonomous from main box actions, you can switch it on manually (with a button on its head) and the alarm function will gets its status (on or off) from a little board into it.

    Finally!!

    A new project done. ;)
    Exams passed and free time increases a bit.

    This is a capacitive button done with an Arduino, the CapSense Library, a 1M Ohm resistor and a thin aluminum foil.

    The principle is very easy: this is a capacitive sensor that measures the electric charge of human body or other metal items.
    It needs an 1M Ohm resistor to work as a button, from 10 to 20M Ohm resistor to sense at 6-7 cm, or 50M Ohm resistor to activate the input from 20-30 cm of distance.

    In the video you can see a direct application.
    A ledbar shows the distance read and a relay (you can hear its “clack” on the background) is activated when the sensor is completely touched.

    Some updates!!

    Hi!!

    Lessons had started and free time isn’t much..
    But I have some updates about my projects! (I still need some help to develop everything my mind shoots out!)

    - “A computer vision project, to track and drive an home droid” has been paused, and a more easy and interesting project has started: Roombot, a room droid.

    Updates

    I think this blog needs updates!

    Here I am!

    - Mambo project has started and reached the 0.9b stage.
    Who is Mambo? Mambo is a DLA (Digital Life Assistant). It can do something for me and I can interact with it by voice.
    The current features are:
    . main function to turn on/off a specific light;
    . “W.I.W.” function (Where Is What), a join solution from RFID and MySQL to know where a person/scooter/auto is;
    . a super easy interface to turn Mambo voice recognition on/off;
    . an RFID profile database with some useful and favorite personal settings;
    . some basic “H.C.S.” functions (Health Care System).

    - Motorless walking hexapod has muscles.
    The nanomuscles arrived, they are awesome!! The legs system has been designed and near to be realized.

    - A computer vision project, to track and drive an home droid, has started some weeks ago. The goal is to let Mambo drives some little droids around the house to clean a room or to help someone.

    - Some future project:
    . A UAV or RPV airship to show me aerial images of free parking or traffic congestion near home.
    . some other stuff.. too much other stuffs.. O_o 

    Help needed!!
    Are you interested helping me developing one or two of these projects??

    I need it for some of my projects, but I wouldn’t pay hundreds of euros for a ready software.
